Research Associate/ Portico Facilitator

Tracy joined Inflexion in 2013 and works as a Research Associate on the Edulytix team and a coach facilitator on the Portico team. A former middle/high school science and math educator, Tracy brings extensive practical knowledge of education and the importance of academic knowledge linked to real-world experiences to her work and is especially passionate about improving instruction and access in STEM/STEAM and CTE. Her work at Inflexion includes evaluation capacity building, research and evaluation for National Science Foundation-funded grants, positive deviance and evaluation studies with bright spots schools (e.g., successful rural strategies and those implementing the AVID program), and a developmental evaluation of an online professional development model and school-based curriculum for journalistic learning, among others. Tracy is also a co-PI on a federally funded research initiative investigating creativity and arts integration professional development for K-12 educators. Her qualitative background includes experience with multiple methodologies, developing data collection instruments, conducting interviews/focus groups, and developing and implementing qualitative coding frameworks. In addition, she has extensive experience in assessment design and review, both in item writing and performance assessment tasks. Tracy holds a PhD in Educational Leadership through the Department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership at the University of Oregon, with an emphasis on research design and methods. Outside of work, Tracy enjoys running, traveling, reading up on new developments in science and technology, and cooking and exploring the natural world with her daughter.
